A web-based database for public use
Ebico is an established Oxfordshire-based company that has been in business for over 16 years, and provides energy to over 60,000 UK households.
Keeping accurate data about their customers is not only useful, but is also legally required. At present, if a customer wishes to update their details, they need to either call up or send in a postal letter in order to amend their details. This puts off many customers from making minor updates.
The Desired Outcome
Ebico required a self-service portal that could allow their customers to securely log-in and update their details. The portal would need to cope with over 1,000 concurrent users, and also have an internal interface for Ebico's own staff members to be able to edit customer details on their behalf.
BTC developed a web-based portal that would function across all platforms. It was secured using the latest SSL encryption standards, and used AJAX to minimise the amount of data being transferred between the server and the client, resulting in a responive user experience.
The new system has greatly reduced the amount of manual interventions required by Ebico staff in order to update their customer's details.
